At Escot the excitement never stops

If, like a great number of the population, you have overspent this Christmas, don’t despair because help is at hand courtesy of Escot Park (situated near Ottery St Mary, just off the A30 at Fairmile).

To start with, they have just announced that their admission charges will not be increasing in 2012 so enjoying Escot is better value than ever. If you are likely to visit Escot more than twice in the space of 12 months then a Multipass membership offers amazing value by allowing unlimited access for less than the price of three day visits! Multipass prices have also been frozen at 2011 rates.

As if that wasn’t enough, there’s a special midweek offer running at the moment which provides access to the park plus a two course meal in Escot’s Coach House Restaurant for just £12.50 each for adults or £10.50 for senior citizens. Whether you’ve been to Escot before or are exploring for the first time, there’s never been a better time to visit. This offer runs weekdays only, from 1st December 2011 until 30th March 2012, excluding bank holidays and school holidays.

Of course, the Coach House Restaurant isn’t just for garden visitors; you can just pop in for a cup of coffee, lunch or afternoon tea without paying to enter the gardens. The restaurant is open daily from 10am and is right opposite Escot’s new walk-through red squirrel enclosure. The enclosure is free to enter and, as well as offering an insight into the plight of this iconic British mammal, provides the perfect surroundings for a gentle after-dinner stroll. Alternatively, visit the enclosure at midday to catch an informative red squirrel talk by one of Escot’s Nature Rangers.

Many of Escot’s popular events are set to return in 2012. During February half term there’s lots to do, including bird box making on February 14th and 15th when visitors will have the opportunity to make a bird box to take home (normal garden entry applies plus £5 per box). Escot’s Red Squirrel Day is back on February 16th, offering lots of squirrel themed activities and free entry for children!

Spring at Escot includes the ever-popular Easter Egg Hunt (March 30th – April 16th) and Bumblebee Box Making (10th – 11th April) followed by a whole summer of fun with a wide range of activities from Barefoot Swamp Walks to open-air theatre. As always, full details are available on Escot’s website www.escot-devon.co.uk or by calling 01404 822188.

For 2012 Camp Wild, Escot’s amazing adventure camp, also has some great news. The range of residential options has been extended and there is now a choice of 1, 2 or 4 night stays. Residential programmes, based at Escot’s fantasticYurtVillage, are open to 8-12 year-olds (plus 7 year-old siblings) and prices start at just £80 for the 1 night, 2 day option which is the ideal way for first-time campers to experienceCampWild. Day camp is available during the Easter and summer holidays and is open to 6-12 year-olds. Day camp prices start at just £36 per day (including free extended care).

So if you thought things were looking a little flat after Christmas, think again; at Escot the excitement never stops...
