Escot’s New Award
Simply take 1100 acres of stunning East Devon, mix with years of hard work from the dedicated estate staff, stir in a magic formula for nature-based family recreation and the result is the award of the 2009/10 South West Tourism Small Visitor Attraction of the Year Award to Escot, the natural place.
"We're obviously delighted to have been granted this award" said John-Michael Kennaway, Escot's owner. "We now have nearly 10,000 loyal season ticket holders, so we knew we were doing something right! To have our efforts acknowledged by the judges gives us great confidence for the future and we're especially pleased for our staff who have worked so hard to achieve this."
Escot's visitor numbers continue to grow but the estate is not resting on its laurels. Plans for 2010 include a new residential summer-camp for children based on a ground-breaking eco-adventure syllabus worked up in California and new to the UK; an extension of the red squirrel breeding programme for the Red Squirrel Survival Trust; and perhaps even an animal hospital. Life at Escot, like in nature, never stands still.
