Escot Education Centre

Escot's education effort revolves around our Education Ranger.  Escot has unrivalled facilities for a wide range of educational activities and every year thousands of children and more mature students take advantage of them.

Activities range from Ph D to Primary and cater for a wide range of differing abilities.  Whether it's a field trip to study the water meadows and river conservation techniques, or a swamp walk and hose down (!), Escot's matchless setting together with the support of the Greenwood Centre staff are available to cover most requirements.

In addition to purely educational needs, Escot's education parties bridge the gap between lessons and pleasure: they make learning fun! These are particularly popular as a way of filling children's time during the holidays and they tend to be fully booked well in advance.

Edcott - The Anglo-Saxon Village at Escot

An Anglo-Saxon village is under construction here at Escot Park. Over the coming years a living history site will enable individuals and groups to investigate and experience the day-to-day life of our ancestors. A particular emphasis will be placed on comparing the sustainability of ancient vs. modern lifestyles.

Family Activity Days - on each Sunday of our volunteer weekends we are offering the public the opportunity to 'have a go' at some of our craft activities. Grinding corn and then making bread in the earth oven was a very popular activity over the winter, as well as Matt's forging sessions with copper pendants as the final product. Richard demonstrated his considerable wood carving skills.

Craft products are available for sale on these days - all monies raised are to be used to purchase standing timber for us to use to construct our village Hall building.

School Activity Days

We can offer Anglo-Saxon experience days as well as the Forest School, Environmental Art and Science and Fun Days. Half, Full day or overnight camps are possible with the sessions tailored to your own individual needs and preferences.
