Escot and the RSPB Working Together to Unlock the Secrets of Escot’s Wildlife

Escot Park provides a diverse range of wildlife habitats, including woodland, wetlands, orchard and water meadow. These habitats support an amazing array of wildlife such as water voles, common lizards and a whole host of bat species.

Birdlife is also abundant with regular sightings including little owl and hobby. Escot is also home to the newly-opened red squirrel encounter.

The Nature Rangers at Escot are well known for their knowledge of the local wildlife and for their ability to share that knowledge with Escot visitors. For a series of special events this year, the Nature Rangers will be joined by the RSPB's Steve Henry, adding another dimension to the wildlife expertise on offer to those taking part.

On Friday 2nd September, there is a rare opportunity to explore the estate after hours, as the Escot Nature Rangers and RSPB join forces for the Escot Sundown Nature Walk. Starting at 5.30pm and finishing at 7.30pm, the walk will take in different areas of the estate, looking at habitats and discussing Escot's regular wildlife visitors.

After the walk, a delicious home-cooked meal awaits participants in Escot's Coach House Restaurant. The Sundown walk costs £15 per person, including the evening meal.

Dawn becomes the focus of attention for the next walk, which takes place on Wednesday 28th September, between 7am and 9am.

Escot's Dawn Nature Walk will visit the best areas of the estate for spotting early morning wildlife before returning for a delicious full English breakfast in the Coach House Restaurant. The walk costs £15 per person including breakfast.

Booking for these events is essential, simply call Escot on 01404 822188. If you'd like more information, pick up a copy of Escot's Events Brochure (available at Escot and local Tourist Information Centres), email rangers@escot-devon.co.uk
