The Black Pearl Sails Again at Escot!

Visitors to Escot Park, near Ottery St Mary, noticed recently that something was missing at the Pirates' Playground. The Black Pearl, Escot's pirate ship, had mysteriously vanished!

Having been in dry dock in the woods at Escot for many years, it was quite a shock to see the empty space where the Black Pearl had once stood.

Help was soon at hand though and, using timber from the Escot estate, local craftsman Dan Franklin has built a replacement ship which is bigger and better than ever.

Judging by the reaction of the first crew members to board the forty foot ship, the new Black Pearl is destined to be even more popular than its predecessor.

Escot visitors George Eastell and Ellis Evans (photographed below)- the first pirates to board the new Black Pearl.
