THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE by Gilbert and Sullivan

Illyria delivers yet another first for the UK open-air touring theatre circuit: Gilbert and Sullivan's most popular comic opera about an apprentice pirate, born on 29th February, who learns he is contracted to the pirates until his 21st BIRTHDAY, not his 21st year.

The show is packed with laughter, romance and a galleon-full of memorable songs such as "I am a Pirate King!"; "Modern Major General" and "A Policeman's Lot is Not a Happy One".

This wonderful operetta gets the complete Illyria treatment, faithfully performed by a reduced cast and accompanied by a Musical Director on keyboard and actor/musicians on various instruments.

Escot Multipass Members benefit from a £1 discount on advance tickets.  Open air performances will continue in all but the worst weather.

Tickets are non-refundable. To save costs (and trees!) we do not issue tickets. Admission will be by confirmation of details on the gate. Please bring your own low back seating or rugs.

Hot drinks will be available. For more information and to book places, please contact Escot on 01404 822188 or visit Ottery St Mary TIC

Illyria was created in 1991, and ever since has delighted audiences the length and breadth of the UK, and in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the United States and Canada.

Illyria has also won international "Best Performance" awards and attracted numerous "5-star" and "Critics' Choice" reviews for the lively clarity of its approach to Shakespeare's plays, the high quality of its shows for Families and the refreshing originality of its adaptations of English classics.
