Jack and the Beanstalk and Hansel and Gretel
Great value double-billing! Two
performances of this children’s
double-bill from The Chapterhouse
Theatre Company.
"Once upon a time there lived a fearsome giant" ...and so begins the story as Louisa carefully reads the first few words of her new book. It is July 1940 and in the skies above Britain, the dull murmur of approaching German aircraft interrupts the peacefulness of an early summer's evening. But deep in the English countryside, far away from her city home, it is Louisa's birthday, and she has been given a very special book. Her brothers Edmund and Gregory squabble and her friends bicker, but Louisa is entranced by the fairytales she discovers. Swept away by exciting tales of bravery and friendship, Louisa and her friends decide to bring the stories to life in a very special way. The evacuees escape into an enchanted world of their own, where giants and witches, magical geese and cows, adventure and excitement lie around every corner.
|
Two performances of both productions. Arrive an hour early for lunch or evening picnics. Either bring your own or book ahead for an Escot packed meal. Bar available in the evening. Bring own low-backed seating or rugs.
