More and more people are thinking about different seasons for their weddings. Summer weddings continue to be the most popular, but spring and winter weddings have found their niche, too.
So why consider autumn as your wedding season? Autumn runs from September to November, a season of change and often, of glorious colours. Certainly, our gardens always look stunning in autumn, the perfect backdrop for your photographs.
The weather is no less predictable than the summer, and you can be more prepared for cooler temperatures and rain as you and your guests will be expecting them!
You can kick off your autumn wedding with invitations using seasonal motifs like leaves and apples. Go the whole natural hog and use hessian and brown paper. It may sound low key but this type of design can really make your guests look forward to a wedding that’s a little different to the norm.
Your wedding finery can reflect the season; imagine bridesmaids in burnt orange, berry red, deep chocolate or blackberry purple. Or stick to a neutral theme with creams accessorised in these types of colours.
Table dressing, too, can reflect the season. We have seen some wonderful autumnal arrangements at Escot, using natural plants and colours that really create a warm atmosphere. Autumn weddings are always an excuse to get real fires going inside the house. The Kennaway room is particularly inviting with its log fire and cosy sofas for guests to relax on.
If you want some fun events (and a more informal wedding), how about introducing some apple bobbing, or coin stamping.
We’re big fans of autumn at Escot and we love to celebrate the season with our autumn weddings.
