When you're researching a conference venue in Devon, there are number of points to consider to make sure you get exactly the right place with the facilities that you need. Here we look at top tips to think about before you book your Devon conference venue.

  • Accessibility

Choose somewhere that is accessible to all your delegates – and easy to find. You don’t want your delegates arriving exhausted and stressed from complicated travel.

Escot House is just a few minutes from the A30, close to Exeter airport, Feniton train station and a short drive from the M5. We have plentiful free parking.

  • Meeting rooms with daylight

Nothing induces torpor in delegates like a room lit only by artificial light. Natural daylight is high on the list for keeping delegates focused.

Our three conference rooms all have large windows with views out over the park, letting in as much daylight as you’ll need.

  • Quality catering

Don’t give your delegates anything less that top quality food for their lunchtime break. A soggy sandwich really isn’t good enough. Great food will reinvigorate them for their afternoon session, and also show them that they’re worth it.

Escot catering is committed to using locally sourced ingredients. Our food is all made onsite, freshly prepared in our onsite kitchens on the day of your conference.

  • The right equipment

A good conference room is one thing, but you need to have the right equipment to ensure you can impart information in the best way possible for your delegates.

Escot provides standard equipment including screen, flipchart, pens and projector – any other equipment can be hired in for you. Each room is well equipped with power points and we can add extra sockets if required. WiFi available.

  • Activity break

A whole day of sitting in front of a whiteboard, flip chart or screen presentation can lead to brain exhaustion. Taking regular breaks means they can refocus – but even better, breaking off to take part in a physical activity will give the brain a moment of rest!

Our onsite activities can be booked for short, half-hour sessions. Alternatively, you can book a whole afternoon after a morning of learning. Choose from archery, Segway, clay shooting, an obstacle course, interactive treasure hunt and more.

  • A great environment

Taking your delegates out of a corporate environment into a warm and friendly venue beats a purpose-build conference room hands-down. People like something that’s different and respond well when they are relaxed.

There’s nothing clinical about Escot House; this is an informal stately home steeped in history. Our rooms ooze character and keep your delegates interested. On colder days they can sit by the open fire for their coffee breaks and when it’s warm, take five on our private terrace.

  •  Point of contact

When you’re organising a conference or seminar, life is far easier if there is one point of contact; someone who knows all about your booking, your requirements and any dietary requirements for your delegates.

Escot has a dedicated event manager who will ensure that your event runs smoothly from start to finish. We work on first name terms!

When you’re thinking about your next conference please contact us. Come and visit, take a look around and have a cup of Lucy’s famous coffee!
