Ways to celebrate
- Garden party: What better way to enjoy an anniversary than with a delicious cream tea, or afternoon tea. Make it even more special by serving glasses of fizz as an alternative to a cuppa! Best, of course, for late Spring, Summer or early Autumn when the weather is warmer. And make sure there’s an indoor alternative as we all know what the British weather can be like!
- Afternoon gathering: Set indoors, so suitable for any time of year. You’ll need lots of light and space to give the event a joyous ambiance. Think about seating, do you want just chairs, for relaxed, informal seating, or chairs around tables where people can place food and drink while they chat. Afternoons are ideal for buffet catering.
- Evening event: Perhaps you’d like a more formal private dinner with your friends and family. Use subtle lighting to give a warm, friendly mood to the event. Traditionally you’ll need three courses, starter, main course and dessert. And you might need to consider whether your guests would like a bit of after dinner dancing!
Personal touches to make it special
- Put together a photo montage. It’s a lovely way to share memories of your wedding day. Choose photos that show you and your wedding guests having fun. For big number wedding anniversaries you could add photos from previous anniversary events if you have them.
- Live music always adds another layer to events like this. For daytime events a string quartet or acoustic guitarist, for evening, a jazz ensemble or rock band. You can also hire a DJ to play songs you associate with your wedding day.
- Include speeches and toasts. It’s up to you if these are formal, with invited speech makers, or informal, opening the floor for anyone to share memories and heartfelt words.
- Use themed decorations, particularly for significant wedding anniversaries, such as silver for 25 years and gold for 50.
Make it a family affair
Anniversaries are a wonderful time to bring multiple generations together. It’s a lovely way to give family members the chance to reconnect and celebrate love and commitment. And to introduce any new members of the family!
