Keeping Escot House looking good

Everyone knows there are different types of venue to choose from. Choices range from super modern purpose built buildings to older properties, like Escot House. Each offers a different experience, suiting different businesses. At Escot, for example, delegates and guests frequently mention the convenience of the location and plentiful free parking, plus the peace of the parklands and the terrace and gardens surrounding the house.

For attendees, conferences and events can be long, and having access to beautiful, well-kept outdoor spaces can provide a refreshing break. A spruced-up garden or outdoor seating area allows guests to recharge, whether during a conference intermission or a break between wedding events. We work hard to make sure the gardens look attractive all year round, growing seasonal plants to ensure as much colour as possible, and refreshing all the containers with new flowers as the seasons change. We also add interesting features, such as garden sculptures, windchimes and water features.

We also look after the wildlife, with lots of different feeders for the birds, insect homes and leaving parts of the lawn unmown, and supporting less manicured areas of the garden, where we see lots of wildflowers.

The outside of the house is also kept looking good. It’s a lot of work, particularly with an older house. Anyone who has had to paint sash windows knows that it’s a tricky job, and ours are particularly large! Of course, it’s vital to maintain any property, but for an older house, protection against the weather is as important as making sure it looks good.

Painting work has recently finished, and we’re really pleased with the result. We’re fortunate to be enjoying some September sunshine, and the house really does look great now it’s been spruced up. This version of Escot House was built in the late 1830s, from Flemish bond brick. The original house burned down in 1808. To find out more about the history take a look here.

We’re aware that it’s the rich history and unique character of Escot House that draws clients to book an event at Escot House. Clearly, a spruced-up exterior enhances the building’s natural beauty, providing the perfect blend of modern convenience and historical elegance.

As well as being a popular venue for conferences, events and weddings, Escot House remains a family home, so it’s important to our family to keep everything ship shape and Bristol fashion, reflecting the care and respect we feel for this cherished building and its legacy.
