Local gin for a tasty wedding favour

Wedding favours come in all shapes and sizes these days! From sweets and treats to wildflower seeds, trinkets and candles – there’s so much choice.

Or how about a snifter of alcohol!

Here in the West Country we’re fortunate to have lots of wonderful artisan spirits made locally by independent producers. Black Cow Vodka, Black Dog Gin, Blackmoor Rum. All are wonderful. But one in particular is very close to the hearts of our local community, and it makes a fantastic favour to give to adult guests!

Flaming Barrels Gin is a special gin made by Exmoor Distillery for Coldharbour Farm Shop in nearby Ottery St Mary. The secret recipe was devised by Beth Ashfield and Andrea Broadhurst. Andrea grew up on the farm and her father Roger was a barrel roller. A what? A barrel roller is one of the mad fools who takes part in Ottery’s famous Tar Barrel event on November 5th each year, where barrels of tar are set alight and carried around the streets of the town.

Flaming Barrels includes hints of kaffir lime leaves, pink peppercorns and liquorice. It’s available in a neat ‘favour’ size which your guests will love.

Devon has lots of amazing local independent businesses, we love to use them as much as possible, and we are always delighted when our wedding couples show their support.
