The way you choose to remember a loved one is deeply personal. While a traditional church or crematorium service followed by a wake remains usual, there are other options you might like to consider, all of which can be held at Escot.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for hosting a wonderful gathering to celebrate Mum's life. The food and service were simply excellent (as always). We really appreciated the hard work you put in, and thank you also for making the sun shine (!) Escot House is Such a beautiful setting, I hope to be back (under happier circumstances next time). As a family, we felt that the occasion went well and received many appreciative comments from guests. The distance from the crematorium, the setting and the refreshments were just right, and the log fire especially welcome on a cold and wet afternoon.

We thought that Joan's wake was a lovely event which she would have loved.   Hiring the two rooms with the tables arranged as they were in the library provided a warm and intimate setting for everyone to relax and share their memories of Joan.  We loved the way the choice of drinks were offered immediately on arrival at the top of the stairs.  Everything was so well organised and done with warm, friendly, professionalism.   Please pass our thanks on to Lucy and all the team for rounding off our difficult day in such a lovely way.

We held my Dad's celebration of life at Escot recently and I can't recommend them enough for a memorial event. Everything was executed perfectly and effortlessly which meant I didn't have to worry about anything and could relax and connect with my friends and family, which was really important. I just wanted to say a big ‘thank you’ to you and the team at Escot House for all your support and help in organising a lovely remembrance reception for my late father last week. Despite being a little nervous about how many guests would attend, due to the bad weather and travel disruption, we ended up with lots of friends, colleagues and family attending which was lovely and a wonderful tribute and celebration of my father’s life. It was also a bonus to have the resident cat, Tucker, make an appearance and helped in welcoming our guests!

A wake or memorial typically follows the funeral, offering the chance for those who attended the service to meet up and share memories in an informal setting.

Alternatively, you might prefer a quiet funeral service for close family followed by a more structured remembrance service weeks or even months later allowing more people to attend. This may include speeches and visual presentations.

For those who prefer not to hold a church or crematorium service, we can host everything at Escot. You might appoint a celebrant or ask a family friend to lead the service, tailored to your wishes.

There are other alternatives to consider, too. We understand that everyone’s needs are different and we’re here to discuss different ideas with you to make sure that your loved one is remembered in a way that feels right. With all the details agreed in advance, we aim to make the day as straightforward and stress-free as possible.

However you choose to say goodbye, we are here to help you create a meaningful celebration of life. Our team is experienced and tactful, and will work with the mood of your gathering.
