We were thrilled with the outcome of the recent fund-raising dinner organised by Red Squirrel South West (RSSW) that was hosted at Escot House.
It was the first event of its kind held by RSSW for 8 years, attracting 115 guests all prepared to put their weight behind the cause of the red squirrel.
The gourmet dinner was designed and prepared by private chef, Tim Maddams. Tim, who is also a writer, cookery teacher and presenter, previously led the team at River Cottage, Axminster. He regularly appeared on both the Channel 4 River Cottage series and the Fish Fight campaign.
Tim’s unique menu for the evening included Escot grey flightless partridge, tomatoes, herbs, pasta, & old Winchester cheese. And yes, the dish was actually a dish prepared using grey squirrels, tasting, depending on who you asked, like chicken, pork or even lamb!
A raffle held during the dinner raised over £1,000. The silent auction which included a day sail in a private yacht in the Solent, a behind the scenes tour of Wimbledon and an Aston Martin driving experience, raised over £3,000. The grand total raised from the event for RSSW was in excess of £8,000.
The grand total raised from the event for RSSW was in excess of £8,000. The monies raised will certainly help to fund the activities of RSSW.
We look forward to our next dinner at Escot House – if you would like to book a similar event, please do get in contact.
