It seems like a lifetime ago now, but we were pleased to welcome photographer Helen Chapman for a styled shoot at Escot House in September.
Helen is a very local photographer based in the village of Feniton, which is a stone’s throw from the Estate!
Her idea was a for a shoot based on Jane Austen and although the period was a little earlier than the current house (rebuilt in 1837 after a fire destroyed the original house), it was a lovely theme and we knew it would fit with the look of the house.
Helen organised everything efficiently, from the two lovely ‘brides’, their hair and dresses, to the beautiful flowers, wedding cake and table décor. Some of the suppliers have worked with Escot previously so they knew their way around.
Helen’s idea was that the two brides were from different social backgrounds, a country bride with a simpler outfit and flowers easily sourced from the countryside, and a wealthier bride with a more luxurious look. Helen chose an overall colour palette of white, creams, pinks and a touch of lavender.
The star of the day undoubtedly was Phoebe the horse! Helen had arranged for Phoebe’s owner to bring her along and she behaved like a real star, as patient as anything.
The shoot was a great success and has been featured in the latest issue of Devon & Cornwall Wedding Magazine.
