So, you’re getting married – congratulations! You’ll have lots of things to think about, the date, venue, guest list, bridesmaids, best man, wedding dress, transport, catering, prosecco or champagne, sit down or buffet – well we all know the list goes on and on.
Most weddings these days like to include wedding favours. We’ve seen all sorts at Escot, including jars of honey, miniature candles and fans. Couples that marry at Escot are often interested in the environment and some have used packets of seed – see our blog about this.
But there’s another option and one that we would urge you to consider. While trinkets can be sweet, they’re frivolous (nothing wrong with that, of course). But if you’d like to use your money a different way, and make a difference to someone’s life, then why not replace your wedding favours by supporting a charity.
We’ve been talking to Devon charity Hospiscare to see what they offer. Hospiscare provides an amazing service to local people in Exeter, Mid Devon and East Devon, providing care for people with a terminal illness. We are very fortunate to have them on our doorstep.

If you prefer to stick with your own wedding favours, you can still help by putting gift aid envelopes collecting tins or buckets around the venue and asking guests to pop in any spare change. You can always pretty them up a little to go with your wedding theme.
